A friend of mine asked if I could do some illustrations for a book she was writing. I said, "I can't do illustrations for a book, I've never done that before!" She said, "Good. I've never written a book before. That makes you the perfect choice." When she told me the book was about overcoming the fears that hold us back, I couldn't say no. The resulting book and drawings turned out wonderful and was a growth experience I will not forget. We should keep trying things that scare us a little.
Book is published and available on Amazon.

The character confronts her image in the mirror and is surprised to see she wears armor when dealing with the world. How can she have authentic relationships if she is protecting herself from everyone?
The character has been riding the "worry coaster of emotion" where she sees dozens of terrifying scenes that could, but have not yet occurred. She is at a decision point. Does she stay on the coaster for another ride? Or does she decide it is time to break the cycle and get off?
The character tries to swim toward safety, but is held back, caught up in memories of the past that bubble up to meet her in the water.
The character in the book walks through an orchard. On one side she sees the trees that bear the 'fruit of her labors'. On the other side she sees the ideas she has neglected and not nurtured, they do not bear fruit.
The character keeps records of the Imes and Izzes in her life.
A representation of the holes we dig, trying to please others.
The mountains we make out of molehills become un-movable truths.
The mountain of lies finally collapses when we understand the truth.
The record of Insults, Injuries and Injustices people have committed against us. Also the cabinet where the character keeps her extra grievance coins and grudges.
Each well represents something we pray for. Wisdom, Peace and Knowledge.
I created this series to visualize how our memories are made.. one layer on top of another. Water is a re-occurring theme in my life, I am always drawn to it. Does each new water scene affect how I see the next? All memories are affected by the total of your life experience. Bits of old memories poke through and color the new memories. Do we trust the final image?
Photo manipulation with two separate images, one day and one night.
Everything can be more than one thing at a time, depending on how you look at it.
